India summoned Pakistan’s Chargé d’Affaires and lodged a strong protest after a Pakistani naval vessel and an Indian Navy warship collided in international waters in the North Arabian Sea on September 15.
India described the conduct as unacceptable and unprofessional and said the incident breached the 1991 agreement on advance notice for military manoeuvres. Pakistan separately summoned India’s chargé d’affaires and disputed New Delhi’s account, so responsibility remains contested.
Reports updated on September 17 said there were no casualties or major damage. The Pakistani vessel returned to harbour while the Indian warship continued its mission, according to The Hindu.
