UDAIPUR: UDAIPUR — A fresh wave of sophisticated financial crimes has hit the Mewar region, bringing the growing threat of udaipur cyber fraud into sharp focus for local law enforcement. In two separate incidents reported within the district, cyber criminals have collectively siphoned off over Rs 4.5 lakhs from unsuspecting residents using a combination of unauthorized ATM withdrawals and real-time OTP intercept tactics. The Cyber Crime Police Station and local jurisdiction units have launched extensive probes, examining transaction trails and telecom logs to identify the perpetrators behind these coordinated digital heists.
⚡ Quick Highlights: Udaipur Cyber Fraud: ATM & OTP Scam Drains 4.5 Lakhs
The first case came to light when Prabhulal Gameti, a resident of Sukher Magri near Bhairavgarh, filed a formal complaint at the local police station. According to police records, Gameti visited an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) located near the Sukher Ghati on the morning of October 24 to withdraw cash for urgent personal expenses. To his utter shock, the machine screen displayed a persistent error message indicating insufficient balance in his savings account. Puzzled by the prompt, he withdrew whatever nominal balance remained and decided to visit his base bank branch on October 26 to clarify the discrepancy.
Upon reviewing his passbook and digital ledger with the branch manager, Gameti discovered that unauthorized transactions had already been executed behind his back. Cyber fraudsters had siphoned off Rs 98,000 on October 22 followed by another illegal debit of Rs 99,000 on October 23, bringing his total financial loss to Rs 1.97 lakhs. Investigators are currently scrutinizing the CCTV footage of the Sukher Ghati ATM booth to identify individuals who may have tampered with the card reader slot or installed skimming hardware during the preceding days. Similar threats have been documented previously in regional cyber alerts, mirroring patterns seen in recent incidents such as recent cyber fraud cases involving malicious links across northern districts.
“We have registered formal FIRs under relevant sections of the IT Act. Technical teams are mapping the IP logs and ATM transaction gateway timestamps to trace the destination of the transferred funds.” — Station House Officer, Sukher Police Station

The following detailed ledger outlines the timeline, victim demographics, affected localities, and exact financial amounts involved in the recent cyber fraud investigations conducted by Udaipur police authorities.
| Case ID | Victim Name | Locality / Ward | Fraud Vector | Amount Siphoned |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CYB-2026-881 | Prabhulal Gameti | Sukher Magri (Bhairavgarh) | ATM Unauthorized Withdrawal | Rs 1,97,000 |
| CYB-2026-882 | Vinod Parihar | Neemach Kheda (Durga Colony) | OTP Intercept / Online Transfer | Rs 2,58,997 |
| REF-2026-041 | Anonymous Victim | Hiran Magri Sector 4 | Malicious Phishing Link | Rs 1,25,000 |
| REF-2026-042 | Local Resident | Pratapnagar Extension | Fake Customer Care Call | Rs 88,000 |
| REF-2026-043 | Business Owner | Madri Industrial Area | Business Email Compromise | Rs 3,40,000 |
In a parallel and far more rapid cyber attack, residents of Neemach Kheda found themselves targeted by digital syndicates operating sophisticated malware or remote access applications. Vinod Parihar, a resident of Durga Colony in Neemach Kheda, reported that on the afternoon of October 30, his smartphone was flooded with a continuous stream of unexpected One-Time Passwords (OTPs). Before he could comprehend the nature of the automated text messages or secure his mobile device, transactional alert notifications began popping up on his screen.
Parihar immediately checked his active accounts and realized that cyber criminals had systematically targeted two of his separate bank accounts simultaneously. Within minutes, a cumulative sum of Rs 2,58,997 was transferred to external beneficiary accounts through unauthorized digital channels. Local community concerns regarding security and public welfare in the district continue to grow, drawing parallels to local initiatives like the recent mega health camps organized for resident wellbeing, even as digital vulnerabilities demand urgent administrative attention. The Cyber Crime Cell has requested detailed call detail records (CDRs) and virtual payment address (VPA) trails from the respective financial institutions.
“The sudden arrival of multiple OTPs without user initiation is a classic indicator of SIM swapping or malicious remote interception. Citizens must never share OTPs or click unverified links received via SMS.” — Cyber Cell Inspector, Udaipur Range

Following the surge in ATM skimming and remote digital frauds, senior administrative officials and Mewar banking coordinators have issued comprehensive safety protocols for all account holders in Udaipur. Citizens are strongly advised to refrain from using ATM kiosks that appear unlit, lack security guards, or feature loose plastic attachments around the card insertion slot. Furthermore, customers should regularly update their mobile banking applications, enable two-factor authentication, and set strict transaction limits on debit and credit cards.
In the event of an unauthorized transaction or cyber fraud, victims are urged to immediately dial the national cyber helpline number 1930 or log on to the official portal at cybercrime.gov.in within the ‘golden hour’. Quick reporting significantly increases the probability of freezing the transferred funds before fraudsters can withdraw them from mule accounts. District authorities are also coordinating with local telecom service providers to trace suspicious SIM issuance patterns linked to these recent digital heists across Udaipur district.
“The 'golden hour' is critical in cyber fraud cases. Reporting financial theft within the first 60 minutes allows our cyber cell to coordinate with banking nodes and successfully place a freeze on fraudulent transfers.” — Superintendent of Police, Udaipur District
In two separate incidents in Sukher and Neemach Kheda, cyber criminals siphoned off over Rs 4.5 lakhs using ATM skimming and rapid OTP-based online transfers.
Victim Prabhulal Gameti lost a total of Rs 1,97,000 through unauthorized withdrawals executed on October 22 and 23 at a Sukher Ghati ATM booth.
