New Delhi. Pfizer India has requested officially from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) seeking an emergency authorisation for the use of the covid19 vaccine. The vaccine is ready to be used in the UK. Pfizer is the first company to seek such authorisation to find a potential solution for the deadly coronavirus that has affected 96 lakh people across India.

Pfizer sought approval to “import the vaccine for sale and distribution in the country, besides waiver of clinical trials on Indian population in accordance with the special provisions under the New Drugs and Clinical Trials Rules, 2019,” sources have been quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

To be imported in India, the vaccine first will have to pass the clinical tests and trials in India, which are not yet sanctioned by the authorities.
