0 must be added to all landline to mobile calls from Jan 15

The government of India has announced that all phone calls made from landline to a mobile phone must be dialed after adding the prefix zero. All fixed to fixed landline calls will not be changed.

This is to free up the limited numbering resources, says the Ministry of Communications. A suitable announcement will be made again when the person dials fixed to mobile without prefixing ‘0’.
